Acquisition
2024
Size
1964 building · 9 suites
In 2024 we bought a 1964 building in central Alicante with the aim of turning it into new accommodation.
The starting point
Analysing the asset from every angle before starting the refurbishment.
Before starting the refurbishment, we analysed the asset from every angle: what product made sense to create, how to lay it out, where to invest and how to position it to make the most of its potential.
The result is Alma House, a 9-suite property with a range of suite types and a contemporary identity rooted in Alicante and the Mediterranean.

Decide before you build
The project was defined before the refurbishment began.
We worked with local architects and engineers to determine the layout, the suite types and the building's needs, taking into account from the outset the regulations and the licence that had to be applied for.
One of our decisions was not to maximise the number of units at the expense of the product. We prioritised larger suites, a variety of suite types and spaces capable of supporting the positioning we wanted for the property.
Every decision about the building also had to make sense in terms of feasibility and future operation.
From investment to operation
From the start, Alma House was conceived as the creation and opening of new accommodation.
ABAL has been involved throughout the process: feasibility, financial strategy and cash flow, product definition, space planning, refurbishment and trade supervision, fit-out, technology, positioning, sales and marketing, online distribution, Revenue Management and operations.
This meant joining up decisions that are often made separately: how much to invest, where to invest it, what product to create, how to market it and how to prepare its management once open.

In 2026, Alma House opens with 9 suites in central Alicante.
